Upwaltham Barns is a beautiful spot in the heart of the South Downs. Surrounded by idyllic views and with the fantastic barns themselves, it’s the perfect venue for hosting your wedding.

Sophie and James had their legal wedding ceremony at Lewes Registry Office a few days before, and I had the pleasure of capturing that for them too! I’ve added a few photos from that on to the end of this post, as it was a really lovely little event in itself.

These two were a fab couple; James is a documentary maker himself (lovely to work with people similar industries!), and Sophie is a doctor with a list of achievements as long as my arm! They were both very sure that a strong documentary approach to the day is what they were after (perfect!), and they wanted to keep the groups and couple photos to a minimum. We were off to a great start, as I strongly agree that this is the right balance for a wedding; a small amount of family groups and a short couple session, with a heavy bias towards capturing the life of the wedding. And this wedding had a lot of life!
